Breath. The body’s energy. The pelvic floor. Surrender. How do these come into play during pregnancy, labour and delivery?
When you’re pregnant, the changes that take place in your body are epic. Not only is your belly growing, but your ligaments are stretching, and you’re in the middle of a process much larger than you. Pregnancy is a rite of passage through which millions of women have journeyed for millennia.
Nature has prepared you for this journey. Your body has innate wisdom. It knows how to nourish new life and continually adjust to meet its needs. But we live in a culture that has taught us to mistrust the body’s wisdom and ignore its sensations and energies—so it can be a challenge to know how to join that guidance when you need to.
This workshop is designed to reunite you with that inner guidance. We’ll explore what it is to locate and feel the body’s energy and bring it to rest. We’ll discover gentle breath practices that support you in feeling grounded and responsive. And we’ll look at the wondrous pelvic floor and how it works in conjunction with other core muscles to support your being and return you to the calm of the present.
This three-part workshop will offer an intimate shared space for exploration, connection and support. It is meant as a complement, not a replacement, to whatever else you might be doing—such as hypnobirthing, Lamaze, or other birth prep courses. The practices we’ll share, while focused on the experience of pregnancy, labour and delivery, are applicable in any area of your life in which you wish to be more present.
