One of the main themes running through this work is the possibility of being activated by the world. We are so used to taking charge of ourselves and clarifying our ideas about what we should do and how we should do it. And I think our ancestors, our hunter gatherer ancestors were continually in a state where they were communing with the world and activated by the world. You can look at that in terms of the tyrant and the hero, they're both connected to desire, they're connected to desire in very different ways. Tyrant's desires, as I see them are primarily motivated by fear, a fear prompts the need for control, the need to manipulate, the need to amass acquisitions or power, the need to be in charge, the need to dominate. This practice will help you release this need for control, and be activated rather by the present moment.
